Salvation is
Rescue & Recovery |
|
|
|
|
The archer
carefully drew his bow, lined up his shot, and
let the arrow fly. The only sound was a
swish of air as the arrow missed the target. All
of us have "missed" in life...we haven't always
followed God's ways or plans. The Bible's word
for missing God's target is "sin". |
|
|
|
|
...for all have sinned and fall short of the glory
of God.
Romans 3:23 |

The difference between Christianity and
all the religious systems in the earth is how each teaches us to deal with
sin. Religious systems teach us we must do
something to make things right with God. Christianity teaches that
we can do nothing to earn God's favor. In Christianity, God's favor is given to us as
a gift. |

For by grace you have been saved through faith.
And this is not your own doing. It is the gift of God.
Ephesians 2:8 |
|
|
|
| |
|
This is what Jesus' death on the cross was
all about. With sin comes a penalty of death. Jesus took our
death penalty for us. We can accept his sacrifice on our behalf,
without first trying to "make ourselves better". |
|
| |
|
but God shows his love for us in that
while we were yet sinners
Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8 |
|

The
answer to our miss was that Jesus did not miss. His life was sinless.
He then chose to die to make right all our misses. Yet,
this work is not automatic. It requires an investment of
belief.
God
created our ability to believe. So, even the believing part of
salvation is from God. God also created in each person the ability to
choose. The only question to be settled is: What do we choose to
believe?
People invest their belief in all sorts of things. Some believe that if
they are a good enough person, they will go to heaven. Some believe
there is no god. Others
believe that people can save themselves. This investment of our belief
is what the Bible calls “faith”. The Bible teaches we should
invest our faith in Jesus. |

Investing
your faith
through prayer:
Dear God,
I have missed your target.
I have acted in ways that were not in your plan for me.
But, I believe that Jesus died
to take the penalty for my sin.
I believe that He rose from the dead.
I choose now to make Jesus the
Lord (boss) of my life.
Thank you for saving me.
I look forward to a new kind of life
with you.
In Jesus name,
Amen. |
|
 |
 |
|
|
|
if you confess with your mouth that
Jesus Is Lord
and believe in your heart that God
raised him from the dead
you will be saved.
Romans 10:9 |
|
|
This belief
works from the inside out to lead us away from lifestyles &
behaviors that cause us to miss God's plan for our life and
teaches us how to live life God's way. |
